HELP US LINK A KID UP WITH A BMX! CLICK DONATE NOW!
By just donating $1.00, $5.00, $10.00 or MORE! You can help us reach our fund-raising goal of just $500.00! AND give this custom BMX bicycle to a well-deserving kid. The child that has been selected to receive this bike is involved with the TreeHouse program. A program offering hope and guidance to hurting teens, alumni, and parents during difficult times. TreeHouse is a safe place to be real about the pain in their lives that is causing them to think and act out in destructive ways. Proceeds go to the Link Foundation to aid in future efforts, and the bike goes to a kid at Treehouse! The fundraising money is simply to pay for materials and other costs to create such awesome bikes. No private parties will be profiting in anyway. All donations go directly to the Link Foundation Inc. A non-profit Company. Teaming up with Treehouse is just the beginning of our efforts. With your help we plan to donate as many high quality bikes to as many kids in need as we can.
Stay Tuned for the follow up story on this bike, and the next custom bike and Kid who will get it!
We plan to keep this program going thanks to all the people and companies that have the heart to donate parts, labor, and sometimes entire bikes. So please be sure to check back on more LINKing Kids Up With Bikes fundraisers! If you have any questions please feel free to contact us about anything.
Our Very First Link Support Kid Gets A Sweet Custom BMX…
In addition to recycling bicycle chains to create our “link” charms for charity, the Link Foundation is now recycling, refurbishing, and customizing high-end BMX bikes. With help from our sponsors, friends, and a lot of elbow grease, we are honored to support the mission of TreeHouse by donating custom bikes to Treehouse teens. Treehouse is a faith-based organization offering hope, guidance and unconditional love to at-risk teens dealing with difficult issues. TreeHouse staff and leaders provide those teens with support, guidance and skills to make better choices today and live as healthy adults in the future.
Recently, TreeHouse introduced us to Antoine, a 14-year-old middle school student. Antoine comes from a single-parent home and has a large family. In the past, Antoine had several of his bicycles stolen and as a result has not owned or been able to ride his own bicycle in five years. Well, we changed that! We gave Antoine his own custom BMX bike, brand new Bern Helmet, a day lesson riding with BMX Pro Dustin Grice, and a one-year safety check and tune-up from Jonny Rock Bikes.
I can’t explain what a great feeling it was when this idea started to come together, as I love to re-build and repair bicycles, and have used it as “therapy” for myself after losing my parents. In my efforts working alongside Treehouse staff we agreed that, like the kids at Treehouse, the BMX bikes we are restoring have been “lost and forgotten” and not very well taken care of. However, when someone believes in something, great things can happen. Being able to share the love of bikes with a great kid like Antoine and to “pay it forward” is an indescribable feeling. It is the reason the Link Foundation exists. Hopefully this small effort will help build pride, importance, responsibility, and all the other things it takes to help us smile each day.
I look forward to meeting new kids like Antoine and continuing to help TreeHouse teens. To do that, however, requires your support. It takes a considerable amount of time, effort and money to build a bicycle, especially a performance bike. The Link Foundation is a charitable organization meaning I/we need your donations now more than ever to continue to do this good work and to continue to help out kids like Antoine. There are more bikes and more kids to “Link” together, and the Foundation needs funding too. So please donate now, buy yourself a link and one for each of your friends, family and co-workers. Just a dollar helps more than you know. It takes all of us working together to make it happen. Thanks for your continued support. Please pass on our message to all “link” minded people! Now please go back to the top of the page and donate a dollar or even more and help us out. I can only do so much without your help. Thanks – Jeff T.
